To Sharpening A Pencil

Pencils in a cup Step one

Find a pencil. The Pencil doesn’t have to be new but a new pencil is so much more satisfying to sharpen. Colored pencils are fine also.

Pencil Sharpener Step two

Once you have your pencil, find your sharpener. To get the best results, find one that is small enough to hold with one hand and that is very sharp.

Sharpening pencil Step three

Now pick up your sharpener in your non-dominate hand. Make sure that the large hole is facing toward your free hand. Making sure that you have a good grip on the sharpener, place the pencil (non-eraser end) into the large hole. Using your thumb and forefinger twist the pencil in a clockwise motion while pushing the pencil into the sharpener. Continue turning until the pencil tip is as sharp as you like it.

Sharpened pencil on notebook Step four

If all things went as planned you should have a nicely sharpened pencil. Be careful the point can, and should be sharp.

Pencil box Step five

Now that you have a newly sharpened pencil, find a nice pencil box or bag to keep it in pristine condition. Try not to put your pencil with the point down into a jar or glass, you might dull the point or even worse, break it.

Lots of pencils Step six

There you have it, it’s just that simple. With a little practice you can sharpen ten pencils a minute. Enjoy, and safe sharpening!
